7th RCAI-JSI International Symposium on
Immunology 2012
"New Horizon in Immune Regulation-Bridging
innate and acquired immunity-"
The RCAI-JSI International Symposium on
Immunology is a series of annual conferences
hosted by RIKEN Research Center for Allergy and
Immunology (RCAI) in conjunction with the Japanese
Society for Immunology (JSI). The symposium
provides a forum for active discussions on the
cutting edge of immunological research. The
steering committee is composed of the
representatives of RCAI and JSI, and organizes the
program with advice from the international
advisory committee. The RCAI-JSI international
symposium is complementary to JSI International
Symposia that are held during its annual meeting.
These meetings promote the progress of immunology
and encourage young researchers not only in Japan
but also in Asia and all over the world. In the
every RCAI-JSI International Symposium, about 400
people gathered to learn about the most advanced
topics in immunology and exchange their results.
The first meeting of the annual series of RCAI-
JSI International Symposium on Immunology was held
in 2005 and we finished the fifth in 2009 with a
great success. It was our great regret that we had
to cancel the sixth symposium of 2011 because of
the earthquake and tsunami attacked the northern
part of Japan and the shortage of electricity
caused by them. Although the post-disaster
reconstruction is still going, there is no problem
in Yokohama and every infrastructure is well
organized as before. Now we are glad to announce
the holding of 2012 symposium.
At the seventh symposium, we will focus on
Immune Regulation-Bridging innate and acquired
immunity. The symposium will be divided into five
sections, 'Recognition by innate sensor', 'Novel
innate cell subsets', 'Innate cell function',
'Interface between innate and acquired immunity'
and 'Lymphocyte subsets and effecter function'. At
this stage, 21 invited researchers will introduce
their cutting edge research. We believe that in
this rapidly advancing era of science, direct
interaction between people is one of the most
effective ways to spread knowledge and inspire
researchers to explore new directions. We hope
that during the symposium, people will consider
both newly solved and yet un-solved problems, and
that the symposium will function to connect the
researchers, and contribute to future studies of
immunological science. We welcome your
registration and attendance.
